AEC MEDICAL TRAM SURVEY
As you know, the AEC, through Dr. R. A. Conard of Brookhaven
Mational Laboratory, {s considering a supplemental survey of
the Rengelap and Utirik people sometime during September 1972
to examine those who refused to be examined in the aborted
March 1972 survey.

The legistical suppert for these surveys is previded end fi-

nanced by the AEC through its Hevada Operations Office. The
aborted survey in March cest almost as much as if the survey
had been completed. Fer this reason, the money available for
the forthcoming September survey is very limited.
The AEC can, and fs willing te, finance the logistical coats
of the AEC team of Dr. Conard end his associates for the September trip. In this light, we suggest that the Trust Territory fund for the costa of the Trust Territory personnel.
We would appreciate being advised as scon es possible if this
proposed arrangement for financing the September survey weete
with your concurrence.
Very truly yours,
