The fouling growth on a beat frame that had been mecred in Bikini Lagoon
from July 15 to Aug. 28, 1947, was counted fer activity. This material,
composed mostly cf a hydroid belanging to the family Flumularidae, had
concentrated active materials exceeding the activity feund in the water
many times. (W.D.M.)

BS> Sail samples from Reongelap Atcll were analyzed for radionuclide
content. Using ion-exchange methads, a detailed study was made of a soil

sample collected in a bird nesting area at Kabelle Island in July 1957. Two

radioisotopes, antimeny-125 and eurcpium-155, net previously reported in
samples from the Pacific Proving Ground were found and their identity was
verified by radiochemical precipitation techniques. The radionuclides
centributing most af the radioactivity were Ce/sup 144/-Pr/sup 144/ and
Fe/sup S5/, a non-fission preduct. Other radionuclides present in much

smaller amounts included Ru/sup 106/-Rh/sup 106/, Sr/sup 90/-Y/sup 90/,

Cs/sup 137, Mn/sup 54/, Co/ sup 6 O/, 2r/sup 95/-Nb/sup 95/, Co/sup
