Dear Professor Mason:

The material you sent on February 24 1967, covering the resettlement
of the Marshallese formerly of Bikini. is very much appreciated.
At the request of Mr. Norwood, High Commissioner of the Trust Territory, this office is taking an active part in investigating the
possibility of returning Bikini to the former natives.
Although we understood there were more problems involved in relocating the people of Kili than the radiation levels at Bikini, the identity
of these problems was fairly vague until we examined your history of the
lives of these people through the years since they were removed from
Bikini.

If the Atoll is cleared by the Atomic Energy Commission as a result of
the next survey. we will be very interested in keeping abreast of events
leading to the ultimate use of Bikini and the solutions to the problems
of the residents of Kili. We believe all organizations involved share
Mr. Norwood's concern for the welfare of the people of the Trust
Territory and will cooperate in the effort to implement the course of
action chosen,
We will be interested in reading any material you may develop related
to this subject. We are sending a copy of your most informative letter
to Dr. Held, University of Washington, for his informaticn.
Mr. Rasmussen of this office will keep you advised of the progress of
the preparations for the Bikini Survey scheduled for mid-April 1967.
Very truly yours.
