Dear Senator Hayden:
AS you are aware, the Atomic Energy Commission and the Department
of Tefense jointly will conduct a series of nuclear tests at the
Pacific Proving Ground in the neer fature. ‘Ye feel that you may
ba interested in observing the detonation of one of the high yield
test devices, and we take this opportunity to invite you to par~
ticipate in one of six Official QGeserver trips. The first of the
trips is to depart Kashingten about April 26 with the others fol-
lowing at intervals of abeut fifteen days. It is planned that
otserver parties will leave “ashington aboard a special mission
aircraft about six days ahead of the scheduled date of the shot,
be in the forward area about four days, and then returns taking
four days for the return trip. [Im all; the time away from Yashington will be some twelve days, more or less.
