The Indian tinister of Food and Agriculture has stated that demage in the flood areas of India is great, with many villages dastroyed and that food grains, clothing and medicine are needed. Ambassador Cooper in New Delhi comments that he expects India to ask officially for US assistance, In the meantime, the Ambassador recommends that the US Red Crosse be approached to inguire of the Indian Red Cross if help is desired. If the US Red Cross or Government decides to give aid, it is necessary that deliveries be made promptly to be effective and to have maximum impact on US-Indian relations.
