Commission and the Department of Defense will carry cut a
News Yedia/FCOA Cbsexver Progran and are at present working
out the details.
The progran contemplates observation of the large yleld shot
scheduled for way 1, 1955 by about 15 0. S. news media repre-~
sentatives and about 20 Federal Civil Defense Adsinistration
representatives to include selected Regional and State Direct
ors. These would be supported by about 20 AEC and DOD classi-~
fication, information and security specialists.
The observers
will gather in Hawaii at their om expense, proceed as a group
by military aircraft to Ewajalein, and berth and wzess aboard
ship at the dock in oe until called foriard by the
Commander, Joint Task Force SEVEN. They will proceed then on
selected island a view froa ship and record on film a
megaton range detonation, return via ship (or plane) to Krajalein, thence return to Hawaii by air.
The progren will in-
clude carefully planned, unclassified briefings and conducted
tours. Hews uwedia personnel will be permitted to file uncen~
sored copy fron the ship which is fitted with adequate connuni-
