1. GENERHAL:
a.
The term Radiological Safety Operations (short term RAD-SAFE
OPRS) is a genneral term used herein to denote the broad aspect of safety
for personnel
from radiological hazards,
It will include training per-
sonnel in radicological safety procedures, passive radiological safety
measures, deccontamination activities for personnel andmateriel, and the
collection,reccording and evaluation of research data to be translated
into operationnal procedures for AirForce usage. The terms Radiological
Safety - Rad Ssafety - ‘Rad-Safe are used interchangeably to denote the
specific appli-cation of Radiological Safety Operations for the prevention
and avoidance of health hazards topersonnel. Radiac equipment is
radiation detec ction equipment, such as Geiger~Mueller Survey Meters and
Gamma Ionization Chamber Survey Meters.

ihe purpose of this plan is to furnish instructions to all
units of TG 7.4 for the conduct of Radiological Safety Operations during =
Operation CAST-LE (RESTRICTED, SI).
c.
Tihe Comdr, TG 7.4, will establish a code to be used in con-
junction with periodic weather reconnaissance reports to report approximate air radimtion intensities encountered on regularly established
weatherreconnaissance or cloud tracking flights.
2.
TASKS OF OTHER TASK GROUPS:
a.
Tne Comdr, TG 7.1, will perform the following services:

Perform all ground monitoring services associated with
scientific missions, except those in conjunction with
aircraft and airborne collection of scientific data.
(2) Provide laboratory services and technical assistance to
all Task Groups, to include:
(a)
Precurement of film badges and specified supple-
mentary items of personnel radiological safety
equipment.

Laboratory services to develop and interpret film

Personnel records of exposures from film badges.

The Comdir, TG 7.4, will perform all ground monitoring services
associated with ENIWETOK ISLAND, except in those areas or activities
assigned to other Task Groups.
