Box 29939 Honolulu, Hawaii 96820 REMARKS: Ta sv J _ Xiah - FES Orser SSS Teay NG Tear Jim: This letter is to follow up on our telephone conversation c icerning the schedule for the next LCU trip to Rongelap and Utirik, As I men._oned, I think the seven days provided on the master schedule for this trip is insufficient to accomplish my goals for the trip. Therefore, I would like to outline the following revised schedule. November 14. 16 20 22. 26 28 Depart Kwajalein Arrive Rongelap Depart Rongelap Arrive Utirik — Yepart Utirik Arrive Kwajalein I would hope that this trip could be done in close cooperation with the Trust Territory Department of Health Services in the Marshell Islands. Not only will I be concerned with the general health care of the people of Utirik and Rongelap, but would like to begin some regular health care clinics. On tiis trip I think the initial clinics would be Cervical Cancer Detection (Pap Smears), Ve rereal Disease, Immunization, and Prenatal Care. I will ask Tr. Ezra Riklon, the District Director of Health Services at Majuro, to provide support for this trip in the form of a Public Health Nurse and perhaps a laboratory technician. The nurse's role is critical to provide discussions with the women about these clinics and also to initiate discussions in family planning. The role of the techician is less critical as I can perform his function if his support cannot be provided. fr. Riklon has expressed a desire in the past to coordinate with our trips th: delievery of health care to these outer islands. Similar work could also be done at Bikini if the political climate is favorable, If the scheduled LCU trip to Bikini is postponed because of the present political situation and legal matters, I would like to delay my trip to Utirik and Rongelap until the first two weeks of December I will keep you informed of further details of this«trip.
