Marshall Islands Risk Communication Follow-on

During a brief meeting with Bill Bair on 6/3/80, we discussed possible HARC involvement in a proposed DOE-EV sponsored program to educate Marshall Islanders
on radiation risks. This program would be a follow-on to the PNL-1.edeffort
last year to communicate risk to people being re-established at Eniwetok.
. That effort was well-received;
This fiscal year, Bill hopes to get some program planning-funds to lay out a
course of action. HA.RCcould provide assistance in this area. After some discussion with Stan Nealy, I was asked to contact you two and request that you
jointly take the lead in
. exploring HARC’S contribution to the planning effort.
Accordingly, could I ask you to contact Bill sometime during the week of
June 22, 1980 (the next time he’s in town) to start the process?
Bill has a notion of trying to train Marshallese people to do the educating/
training. We both felt that some mechanism for assuring the effectiveness
and accuracy of the information needs to be part of the plan.
