Dr. Dobyns examined patients on Rongelab in 1967 with Dr. Conard, and he has operated on more than half of the people of Rongelab and Uterik who have had thyroid operations. 6. Dr. Louis H. H_mpelmann University of Rochester Medical Center Elmwood Avenue Rochester, New York 14644 Dr. Hempelmann, whose chief area of expertise also involves the effects of radiation in humans, received his M.D. in 1938 from Washington University in St. Louis. From 1943 to 1948 he was the leader of the Health Division at Los Alamos, and he has been at the University of Rochester since 1950. He is currently Professor of Experimental Radiology and was Chairman of the Radiation Department from 1960 through 1971. 7. jDr. Victor Archer National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health P. O. Box 8137 Salt Lake City, Utah 84108 Dr. Archer's area of expertise also involves the effects of radiation exposure on humans. He has expressed interest in serving on the panel, but he has not been at his office for the past several weeks. He will, however, return to Salt Lake City soon after December 1, at which point we should receive a definite answer from him. 4
