One of the two operational RAF Canberra airoraft of the British contingent was lost while enroute to Kwajalein from Australia. Hence, the British capability for obtaining aerial filter samples for each event and for the total series has been drastically impatred. 3. AFOAT-1 has been presented with a request by the accredited United Kingdom representative for a portion of aerial filter samples collected by AFOAT-1 Long Range Detection operations, based on the referenced JCS decision on British participation in Operation CASTLE and on the corrolary U. S. offer to provide "hot papers" from our own airplanes in lieu of British flight missions. 4.
