Conmender's Concept of Oncretiong

General,
Operation CASTLE will be a series of etomie tests conducted
early in 1954 at BALWATOK and BIKINI atolls, MarodsLL Islands,

capability, for the Joint Task Force Commender and the other task groups
(especially the Scientific Task troup) of the Joint Taek Force, in the conduct of tests of experimental weapons and devices end the conduct of technical and neasurement prograns, and
b. To provide for the security of the BENIGETOK/BI INI Tanger area by
riaintaining tne status of the "Closed Area", end hy detecting, warning and
escorting unauthorized vessels and aircraft out o£ the Danger urea,
3. Deployment Phase. It is expected that TG 7,3 ships and units will depart
fron hone ports or operating arees, arrive in the forward area, and carry out
certain tasks enroute as indicated:
