It shquld be noted that for the purposes of crater measurements it is nedessary to determine the surface or bottom contours prior to the éxplesion and-egain subsequent to the explosion. While in a scientific sense it would be desirable to measure the crater shortly after zero time so asto avoid modification of the crater by the action of water waves and.-curre ts, no feasible way of accomplishing such a prompt measurement has be nm conceived.
