BeachNaval Shipyardfor the purposeof processingali JTF-7personnel
who were reportingaboardthe 4 major ships. There the tasksof identification,registrationand routingof properlyauthorizednewcomers
was accomplished,
as well as the storageof incomingclassifieddocuments
for laterdeliveryto the ship securityofficers. In addition,the
physicalprotectionof classifiedfreight,equipmentand materialwas
supervisedbythis officeafter its arrivalby air, rail, truckor
courierwithin the lhits of the shi~ami.
Until sailingthe on 29 February1948, the Task Group 7.5_istrativesectionat Long Beach devoteda considerable
portionof its
attenticmto the formidabletask of furnishingthe necessarysecurity
for the masses of heterogeneousscientificequipment,toolsand
instrumentsthatwere daily arrivingfor delxveryto the various
laboratories,
shops,officesand storagespacesaboardship. As classified materialreachedtheseworkroomsand storageareas,Marine guards
were posted,entrancestheretowere limitedand the ~iExclusion~
