_RONGELAP RESURVEY SAMPLES FROM NRDL.

The samples of vegetation from NRDL as a result of their last survey
were received in such poor condition that many of them cannot be
analyzed. It is to be expected that a certain amount of decay will
take place but many samples were received unsealed so that the cone
tents had leaked out and were on the outside of their own and other
containers. It is felt that this may be a serious source of cross-
contamination in addition to the loss of the leaking samples. We
Wild analyze as many as possible but regret that some of the more
important Samples will have to be reported as lost in shipment,
