C. 20240 Dear Mrs. Van Cleve: The Department of Energy currently is investigating the situation with regard to persons living on Likiep Atol] in 1954, including a review of the medical surveys presented by Mr. Antony de Brum. In addition, we are attempting to schedule a visit by our Brookhaven medical team to Likiep as soon as it is feasible to do so. With respect to the broad issues raised regarding possible exposure of people on the island in 1954, and any further medical involvement, it would be most helpful if the Department of Interior could provide us with a list of those persons who were resident on the island during March 1954. This would enable us to initiate a meaningful medical survey of those persons. Thank you for your consideration of this request.
