W. 20545 Burr, BER MEETING OF ENEWETAK ADVISORY GROUP, JUNE 7 AND 8, 1978 As you know, a group of experts headed by Bill Baix, PNL, is providing OES advice relative to Enewetak cleanup operations for which DOE is performing certain radiological support activities in the field for DNA. The subjects of how we are organized to provide this support, and what we are doing as an agency to insure an adequate data base of technical information for dose assessments, are of interest to the group. There are aspects of these questions that are broader than Enewetak cleanup and there are implications for all DOE activities in the Marshalls. On June 7 and 8, 1978, at LLL, there is a meeting of the Bair group to discuss these and other issues. BER is most welcome to send a representative to this session and we seek your assistance in responding to the groups questions regarding organizational responsibilities and research being supported by DOE. Enclosed are copies of a letter, Bair to distribution, May 15, 1978, containing a proposed agenda for the June 7-8 meeting, and a letter to me from Bill Bair containing recommendations on Enewetak soil cleanup and suggestions of items to improve dose assessment capability. If there are questions, Vic Noshkin at LLL and Tom McCraw in OES are contacts for the meeting arrangements.
