Mr. McDaniel described the additional items requested for the
Physical Research Program for which funding had not been provided in
the FY 1959 Budget Estimates. Mr. McDaniel said that the deferred
items included funds for the MURA Project and for design of
accelerators at Cambridge and Princeton, Mr. McDaniel added that
recent successes in the CTR program at Oak Ridge and Livermore
indicated that FY 1959 funds might be required to provide for an
expansion of the program, In response to a question by Mr. Libby,
Mr. McDaniel said that concrete suggestiona for pursuing CTR research
would be developed at a meeting of experts to be held at Princeton in
October 1957,
