MEMORANDUM FOR COMMANDER, HEADQUARTERS, JTF-7, REAR
SUBJECT:
Visit to Eniwetok by Honorable Reuben B. Robertson,
Deputy Secretary of Defense
The Deputy Secretary of Defense plans a world wide tour
of military installations.
His schedule will bring him near
Eniwetok about 28 May, and he and a party of two would like to
Witness the shot presently scheduled for that time. He would
Plan to arrive at Eniwetok the day before the shot, remain for
the shot and leave the same day for Honolulu.
His present plan would be to arrive Eniwetok, deplane and
send the aireraft (DC-6, No. 3240) to Kwajalein.
The plare would
return to Eniwetok the next day.

Included in his party are Captain James W. O'Grady, USN,
Charles G. Ellington, and Mr. Robertson,
These persons have
Top Secret and "Q" Clearances.
Would you make arrangements with the Joint Task Force
Commander and others, as required, to receive Mr. Robertson,
billeting for all, and a briefing on the tests.
This office will not have the latest schedule in time to
communicate this
information to Mr, Robertson,
Would you arrange
to contact Mr. Robertson's party on scheduling into Eniwetok via
Capt. O'Grady who can be reached via Commander, Navy, Philippine
Islands, Manila, starting on 24 May.
We will also contact him,
but believe it best that the Task Force Commander should be the
main contact.
My staff will remain in close touch with your staff on any
problems that must be worked out,
