OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this study were to: (1) present factual and pictorial date describing and
illustrating the environmental surroundings of the inhabitants of Rongelap and Ailinginae
atolls; (2) supplement data for clinical records with information concerning family group
membership andactivities of the Marshallese during fallout; and (3) supplement physical
dosimetry studies with readings of the external radioactive contamination of the inhabitants
of Rongelap and Ailinginae atolls, including an account of the evacuation and decontamination procedures.
