Giller, USAF Assistant General Manager for Military Application, HQ BIKINI CLEANUP PROJECT There is attached for your information a memorandum forwarded to us by the Manager, HAO, covering items discussed with the Commander, JTF-8, at Bikini Atoll on March 2. You will note on Page 3 the statement that General deSaussure was extremely critical of H&N's failure to develop a detailed plan for cleanup. This situation came about as a result of the fact that the original estimate and plan were developed over very short period of time, and that at the time of the meeting there wasn't yet a local understanding as to what the program actually required. This is now being rectified through definition by the Trust Territory of what is to be done and how it is to be accomplished, and a plan is now being worked out to the satisfaction of all parties. ) PDB: KNJ-149 KSL.
