TEST SCHEDULE ~ REDWING, DIXIE
Report to the General Manager by the Director
of Military Appi ication
1. In view of the present status of developmental work in the
laboratories, it is considered advisable to revise the test program
previously. visualized for the remainder of this year and calendar
year 1956,
Whereas previous plans included conducting DIXIE at
the Nevada Test Site during the latter part of 1955,
it is now
considered necessary in order to maximize the benefits of the
tests proposed,
to integrate that test program with REDWING which
will be conducted in early calendar 1956 at the Pacifie Proving
Ground as was originally planned.
Our plans to combine the
detonations which were previously to be included as a continental
series in DIXIE are dictated by the laboratories! requirement for
more time after TEAPOT to design the Gevices and prepare for the
associated diagnostic programs,*
Recent suggestions that all
testing be accomplished at the Pacific Proving Ground have not
influenced our decision in

combining DIXIE with REDWING,
The present concept is that the next test series after
REDWING will take place in calendar 1957.
The decision as to
whether it will be conducted as a continental or overseas test will
