END QUOTE The full text of the Embassy's note follows: 4 QUOTE The Embassy of the United States of America presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has the honor to refer to the Ministry's note A-5, No. 939 of June 10, 1954, transmitting an invitation from the Science Council of Japan for a meeting on the subject of radioactivity between United States representatives and members of the Radiation Effects Investigation Special Committee of the Council. The Embassy, under instructions from the United States Government, is pleased to accept the invitation of the Science Council of Japan for a conference on the general subject of radioactivity in relation to human health and on scientific procedures for detecting, measuring and guarding against its presence in the environment. The United States Government will send a delegation of senior American scientists expert in these fields to Tokyo for such a conference at a mutually agreeable date in autumn of this year. The Embassy believes that this conference will continue and expand cooperation between United States and Japanese science for sharing the knowledge about radistion and procedures for safe- guarding against it which exists in both nations. The Embassy will be pleased to conclude formal arrangements for the conference at the convenience of the Ministry.
