President Eisenhower relessed today at the White Houpve a statenent
by Chairsan Lewis L. Strauss of the U. 5. Atasic Energy Comission announce
ing the resusption by the Soviets of testa of nuclear weapons. This is
the 13th anncuncement to the world by the United States Government of
melear explosions by the Soviet Unian.
Chairman Strauss’ statement is made publics in accerdance with the
President's poliey of keeping the American people informed to the fillest
practionl extent of important developaents at home and abroad conesraing
nuclear veapons.
Ia releasing this statement, the President said:

international onatrol of atomic energy and such measures of
edequately safeguarded disarmament as are now feasible,
