The Independent Offices Appropriation Act, fiscal year
1948, contains under the heading "Atomic Energy Commission" the
following provision:
#**% from which appropriation transfers of sums may be
made to other agencies of the government for the performance of
the work for which this appropriation is made, and in such cases
the sums so transferred may be merged with the appropriation to
which transferred; ***#
Under an agreement reached between the Atomic Energy
Commission and the Navy Department, certain work is to be under=
taken by the Navy Department for the Commission, The initial cost
of the work is estimated at $5,000,000.
Under the provision cited above, it is requested that
the following transfer of appropriations be effected:

Of this amount, $25,000 will represent travel expenses
and is, therefore, chargeable to limitation .002 cited in the
General Accounting Office Accounts and Procedures Letter No. 11658,
dated August 8, 1947, while the balance represents general expenses
and is chargeable to limitation .001.
