With most of the Applied Fisheries staff gone to Bikini,
the three members remaining at the University of Washington
continued operations on a reduced scale.
I.
The basic program of the Applied Fisheries Laboratory, namely,
measuring the effect of exposure of aquatic organisms in various
stages of development to x-rays,
continued.

The second generation offspring of the adult fish X-rayed
and spawned in 1945 continue to develop.
The mortality in all
seven groups continues almost at zero.
II.
The manuscript "Lethal effect of X-rays on marine micro-
plankton organisms" was accepted for publication by Science.
III. Written contact has been maintained between the portions
of the staff at Bikini and in Seattle.
Bikini activities will
be reported upon separately by Dr. Donaldson.
IV.
On August 30, Mr. Phil. A. Olson obtained supplies for
the fish at the Hanford Engineer Works, Richland, Washington
