stavmano Porat no. 4 . 4Qadots Office Memorandum + onitED STATES GOVERNMENT TO : ‘Those Listed Below FROM : Morse Salisbury, Director DATE: auG1 0 1959 — 3 Division of Information Ed SUBJECT: OUTLINE FOR BOOK ON HEALTH AND SAFETY IN ATOMIC ENERGY ACTIVITIES SYMBOL: IST:RMB Herewith for your review is the subject outline. The book Is being written by the National Industrial Conference Board under contract with this Division. It is primarily intended to serve as a reference for industrial executives, plant foremen, research administrators and others who need to have a grasp of radiation and related hazards encountered in atomic enterprise and measures for controlling these hazards. The presentation should be well balanced and technically accurate, yet not burden the non-specialist with technical details and subtleties. We recognize that this is a large order but believe that NICB can deliver provided we give that organization adequate guidance. We feel that Headquarters groups having programmatic interests in the areas covered by the book should review the outline before NICB begins manuscript preparation. I therefore solicit your couments and suggestions. I would greatly appreciate receiving them by September 1; 1902. Enclosure: Subject outline Addressees: _Dr. Charles L.
