The School of Medical Practitioners commissioned on January 2, 1946, and the School of Dental Practitioners, commissioned on February 21, 1947, were redesignated the School of Medical Assistants and the School of Dental Assistants on April 23, 1948." At the time of the establishment of trusteeship in July 1947, the medical and dental schools were parts of the United States Naval Medical Center, Guam,” which was under the military command and coordination control of Commander United States Naval Forces Marianas and the management controlof the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.” These two schools were responsible to the Commanding Officer, United States Naval Hospital, Guam, and each was under the immediate direction of an officer in charge who was a Commander, Medical Corps, and Commander, Dental Corps. respectively.
