Islands vs. U.S. The claimants in Juda vs. U.S. also appeal but madve to dismiss the
suit following the enactment of special legislation which appropriates funds for the
Bikini people.

Harry U. Brown of NV recommends on 17 February that]a meeting with
Rongelap representatives state that the DOE should take noofficial
position on phase
2 because, according to the law, the reassessment of the habitabjlity of Rongelap
Island is RMI’s responsibility. Further, he asserts, "We maintain R@ngelap Island is
habitable..."
At the 8 and 9 March meeting ofofficials of Rongelap, the
RIMI, and the DOE
to foster better relations and discuss the resettlement of Rongdlap, the DOE's
positions are that Rongelap is radiologically safe and that the dose
