Gates, Manager Nevada Operations Office U. S. Atomic Energy Commission Las Vegas, Nevada _DOE/PASo DoEWV. Box No. L228, 7On 2 “Extn t 3" FOLDER # o, a, e ey iQE. Dear General Gates: Last month we returned from a successful annual medical survey of the Marshallese people who were exposed to fallout radiation in 1954. The success of the operation was dependent on the outstanding efforts of you and certain of your people in getting the LCU and making it operable for our survey. In view of the time limitation, I consider it a job extremely well done. I was particularly pleased with the coordinated efforts of Roger Ray and William Streenan, and also the personnel at Kwajalein in accomplishing this feat. Mr. Streenan was also particularly helpful with logistical problems on board the LCU during the survey. I would like to express my apprec- , iation to all of you. I am most pleased with the LCU, and feel that our medical visit to the outer Marshall islands and the radiological surveys will be greatly enhanced with its use, 1 ~ it RAC/es cc: Mr. Mr. Mr. Dr. G Q Roger Ray William Streenan William Hill N.
