During cur visits to Utirik and Roneelap it was apparent that tnere
wos considerable confuslon about those eligible for benefits of Public
Lav 5-52, At Utirik the unexposed people thought that they should be
entitled to I.D. Cards and at Rongelao they wanted ald the children included. The Iaw and the agreement betveen ERDA and IT... states that
only the people on cur examination list (a copy of which is kept at
Najuro) are entitled. This includes exposed Ronzelap and Ucirik people
and the special unéxposed Rongelan sroup or 150 pzonia, Therefore, no
unenposed Utirik, only some of the unexposed Rengelap and no childran
are included, We attempted to explain this ard also that: the unexposed
Koneslap control greup vas established many years azo (1957) and the
poonle on this list were selected to match for age and sex people in
the exposed Ronszealap grouo.
This roup is considered quite adequate ©
tor both exsosed groups and it has not been considered necessary to inive
unenmosed Utirik peenle as controls,
