Assistant to the Chairman
RESPONSE TO COMMUNICATION FROM SENATOR BORJA
The enclosed letter is a response by Chairman Ray to receipt of
the enclosed report from Senator Olympio T. Borja of the Congress
of Micronesia.
The response is offered on behalf of Dr. Ray,
Dr. Bruner and Dr. Larson,
The report is concerned with a request for compensation of inhabitants
of the Rongelap and Utirik Atolls who were exposed to fallout after
the March 1, 1954, thermonuclear test conducted on Bikini Atoll. The
reply to Senator Borja indicates that AEC is preparing comments about
the report for the Interior and Insular Affairs Committee of the
House of Representatives at the request of the Committee staff.
