After discussion of the problems involved in the manner and timing of
,
the public release of information on the National Academy of Sciences!
Radiation Study on June 12, 1956, it was agreed that:
(1) Advance copies of the 30-poge popular summary of the reports of
the six technical committees (genetics, pathological effects, agriculture
and food supply, oceanography and fisheries, disposal and dispersal of radio-
active wastes, and meteorological problems) would be furnished on an embargo

basis to State and (SIA on or about June 1 so that notification and guidance
could be furnished to overseas missions, particularly in Japan, India and
Indonesia. USUN would also be incluced in view of the Trusteeship Council
meeting in June.

State will consider furnishing copies to individual members of the

Civil Defense, State, USIA and AEC would inform the National
UN Scientific Committee on Radiation.
