14th Naval Mstrict, Pearl Harbor, T. H. Work wae performed in accordance with Navy Contract NOY 15124. Superintendentfor HD Co. was Mr. B.
Smith. All work was under the supervisionof Mr. L. N. Gratz, Navy
Xnapector of the lf+thNaval District.
Aside from reconnaissanceand preliminary survey, actual work began
on 1 Jan 48 when the barge YCV-1’7was towed from Eniwetok Island and
nmored off Biijiri. By 5 Jan a temporary landing had been constructed
