Operations at EMwetok Atoll required housing and bese facilities for a force of approximately2600 officers and nun, and test construction to meet specificationsdetermined by the Atomic Energy Commission and by the using services of Army, Navy and Air. This phase of constructionwas accomplishedby engineer troop labor under the direction and supervision of island oosmanders concerned. It involved the rehabilitationof existing structuresand installation of supportingutilitiee on”Ehiwetok Island to care for some 1500 officere and men, and similar efforts on ~gebi, Aomon, wt, Islands to acccmnmdate garrisons of ~0, and Parry 2?30,200, and 100 respectively.
