Air Force, to the Air and Airways Communications Service requestingthat they take necessary action to install h complete ~~r~ operate cemunications facilities on Lniwetok Ialami aS soon as possible. Personnel ami equipnmnt requirenmts for this installation were obt~ned f~m the AACS ani arrangementsmade for the necessary water ship~nt departingfrom Pearl Harbor on 10 November 1947. Arrangement were mde by AACS to protide per80Mel and equipment for the initial activation of these facilities from the 71st AACS Group at Hicksm Field, T.H. This to be supplementedae soon ae possible by shipnwnts of peraomel and eqpipmnt from the United States. Control tower facilities were activated at Eniwetok on 22 December 1947. The Joint Task Force meteorologistpresented the following communications requirementsfor weather reporting stations: (a) Weather reporting stations on Rongerik,,Majuroandihuuaie; (b) Radio telet~ intercept of the Guam weather broadcast; (c) Radio teletype weather conmunicationebetween Kwajalein and Eniwetok; (d) ~ir/Ground facilities for consnunications with B-29 1range weather reconnaissanceaircraft. The requi~nt for a reporting station onlhumie subsequently waa cancellea ad %ke Island was added to the list. After coordinationwith the Joint Task Force Cormnunicatione Officer, the above reqpirementawere submitted by the Air i~eather Section XI 113
