Recommendations
Transmitted herewith is one print and one reproducible of FS 6241, "Recovery of Triangulation Stations, Eniwetok Atoll". Shown thereon are
jobsite recommendations for replacement surveys to be made prior to the
next operational period.
Field work on Triangulation Station Recoveries is complete and the final
Station Recovery Notes are presently being compiled and typed.
Prints
will be forwarded to the Home Office when this work is completed.
The purpose of the proposed triangulatim is twofold; first, to maintain
the strength of the overall net and second, to provide control at anticipated operational sites.
The first considerationapplies to the new station recommended on Site
Sally.
The monument was a small concrete pedestal set in sand, estab-
lished by JTF-7,
mass of concrete.
This was replaced by Holmes & Narver with a larger
There is evidence that treffic on the nearby road
dislocates the monument and its references. To overcome this, it is
proposed that 4 new station be established using an H pile with a concrete collar as shown on the attached sketch.
New stations are recommended at Sites Gene, Pearl and Yvonne to provide
second order control at anticipated test sites. In each case, the favorable locatian for a station is in an area with a sand overburden where the
establishment of a lower mark on solid coral would be impractical. It is
proposed that the H pile and concrete collar as sketched be used for these
atations and their references.
It is requested that you review this proposed program at your earliest convenience and advise as to any changes that may be required. As soa as
this program is firmed up, it will be possible to initiate monument estab-
lishmeng and tower costruction.
With these items taken care of, the
triangulation work can be done as soon as Survey personnel are available,
