12. Civil and CriminalIau Enforcement. The Departmentof Interioris
chargedwith civil and criminallaw enforcementin that portionof the
Trwt Territoryof the PaciffcIsl.edsfor which it is responsibleend
in which the &shall Islandsgroup is included. The High Ccmmtl.ssioner
of the Trust Territoryof the PacificIslands,with office in Guam,
will administercivil and criminallaw enforcementin the Eniwetok
Proving Ground, and JTF SEVEN will render assistanceas required.
Under the code of the Trust Territory,there have been appointedone (1)
PrincipalAdministrativeOfficer,SpecialPolice and three (3) Deputy
Sheriffs,Ihiwetokand Bikini Atolls. All of these are Holmes & Nerver
(H&N)employees,the first being the H&lJResidentManagerand the other
three being members of the H&N @
force.

Prisoners

If deemed advisableby CTG 7.2, _
and Air Force prisonersnuq’be
evacuatedto Oehu, T. H., or the mainlandvia air as providedin AR 633-5,
dated 29 Fkrch 1956, as amended;SR 60G435-l dated 25 MaY 1951 or w
1.25-2,as amended. Naval prisonersmay be evacuatedto the appropriate
naval command.

Release of Personnel

a. Release. Military and civilianpersonnelwho are on temporary
duty in the forwardarea or at a stationother than their permanentduty
stationwill be returnedto their permanentduty stationas early as
practicableconsistentwith ormrationalrequirementsand the roll-uu
~ssion. Task Group Commsnde~s,will ret~n personnelas reqtied in
the forwanl area to properly~epsre, store ad dispose of equipnentin
an orderlymanner.
