PROGRESS REPORT ON DR. CONARD'S GROUP - #7
Drs. Knudsen, Lowrey, Rall and Sutow drove in from Waimanalo and
were met at Hickam before 0600 hours on Wednesday, 24 February.
This early check-in permitted them quick access to the weign-in
scales. They had breakfast, shopped at the Base Exchange at Hickam
for a few small items
(which is permitted upon showing a boarding
pass) and then availed themselves of the DV Lounge at the Terminal.
Excess clothing and a suitcase were turned over to us and are now
stored in Mr. Joe Dryden's closet in AEC trailer no.
17.
These
items will be picked up at approximately 0100 hours on Saturday,
20 March. Blood samples which the group had collected on the previous
day are being stored in the freezer compartment of No. 2 refrigerator
in the Lounge trailer No. 16 until these gentlemen return.
Dr. Knudsen requested that one blood sample for a calcium analysis
be turned over to Tripler Hospital as soon as possible.
This was
delivered to the sixth floor laboratory at the Medical Center av
O900 hours on Wednesday. Dr. Lowrey requested that a pair of reading
glasses be delivered to a Rongelap resident who is now a student at
the East-West Center. The glasses were delivered at noon on Wednesday
so the student could be found in his room at that time.
Dr. Knudsen and Dr. Rall asked us to make reservations for their return
rlight from Honolulu to New York and Washington. All four Doctors
commented on the help we had been to them during their . visit.
This will be the last progress report on Dr. Conard's group until they
start to return from the Marshall Isiands,
