Another aspect of Air Micronesia’s service in the Territory is tourism. The airline plans to build a hotel in each district and to contribute to tourist development through advertising and promotion. A commercial air taxi passenger and cargo-carrying charter aircraft company operates on a non-scheduled basis between Guam and Saipan and between Guam and Yap, Ulithi, Palau, and Truk. The government, in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, is continuing a program to improve landing fields and ground services as well as navigational aids and communications facilities in each district.
