409409 Té3rd ARC ileeting 8-13~52 Board The Commissioners discussed the issues involved in the draft report submitted by Panel "L". Dr. Smyth said he would prefer to see all reference to controlled thermonuclear reactions deleted from the report. Mr. Dean suggested that a statement concerning a proposed joint announcement of the tests, similar to the revision proposed for AEC 483/10 (see Section 6 above) be substituted for the announcement of controlled thermonuclear energy experiments in Section V,1,4,(1) of the draft report. The Commissioners discussed with Colonel Schlatter the problem of attendance at Operation IVY and the measures being considered to solve that problem. After further discussion, the Commission: a. NOTED that the Commission representative to Panel "ZL" would report to the Panel the revisions suggested at the meeting; and b. APPROVED the draft report of Panel "L", subject to a, above.
