Reference is made toour letter dated April 1, 1957, con-
cerning the redsatriation of the Rongelapese to their home
island. At that time, I noted that we expected that it
would de possible to return then by early sunmer.
I am pleased to inform you that the reconstruction of
homes and other facilities on Rongelap has bean com=-
pleted and the inhabitants were returned on Jume 29, 1957.
The Rongelap Council members and the representatives of the
Trust Territory Administration have expressed their thorough
satisfaction with the planning, construction, and the manner in which the repatriation was carried out.
