Following the detonation at Bikini Atoll, thirty service men who had been exposed to debris from the 1 March detonation were returned to Tripler Army Hospital at Honolulu where the Tripler facilities and professional staff could be used. The clinical observations on the thirty patients were completed by 15 May and the patients were discharged to duty on 17 May. Special emphasis was placed upon examination of the lens of the eyes so as to establish a firm base-line to aid in the evaluation.
