office furnished 17.7% of all active Army enrollments in USAFI,
Hawaii, courses,
18.4% of all Air Force active enrollees, 19.8% of
Army enrollments in USAFI courses during the month of February,
39.8% of Air Force couse enrollments for the same period, 12.7% of
all Army testing, 31.5% of all Air Force testing, and counseling
service has been rendered to many more ‘personnel in this command
than was rendered by the office of USAFI, Hawaii.
An active campaign was launched to emphasizc the existence
and the necd for education for personal advancement as well as self-
satisfaction.
This campaign was accomplished by posting USAFI posters
on detachment and club bulletin boards and by stressing educational
activities through the daily hewspaper, Atomic Times, and the Armed
Forces Radio Station, WXLE.
& complete library of USAFI self~tcaching
course textbooks and materials together with the most current issues
of all catalogues of major colleges and universities was established.
The Information and Education office was established as an official
testing center for various college entrance and graduate sohool
examinations by the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, N.J.
A foreign language center was established and 38 pamphlets concerning
reports cf interest to servicemen, veterans, and dependents, were
purchased in order to provide additional information to members of
this command,
With respect to Radio Station WXLE, plans have been submitted for the construction of a new radio station.
Present facili-
ties are inadequate for additional tape recording machines which DRA
are being sent from .FRS, Los Angeles.
An air conditioner was re-
ceived and installation awaits the construction of new quarters.
