411705 f MINUTES THERD ENTWETOK COORDINATION COMMETTEE MEETING OCTOBER 6, 1972 INTRODUCTION The meeting was opened by CDR Wolff, Chairman of the Eniwetok Coordination Committee. Copies of the "Planning and Operations Directive (NVO-121) 1972 - Eniwetok Atoll Radiological Survey,'' were distributed for information and retention. Review by all offices, particularly DOS and DBER, was solicited. Comments to "correct the record" were desired. It was noted that DMA (Tests) would provide copies of the survey plan to other agencies as appropriate. It was suggested and agreed to that Peter Coleman be provided a copy of the survey plan. Mr. Roger Ray (NVO) will provide the survey plan to Coleman with the proviso that it is for information only and not for publication. Considerable discussion ensued concerning the PACE injunction and possible impact on our radiological survey. The merits of providing a copy of the survey plan to the plaintiffs law firm in Hawaii were discussed at length. It was decided to furnish a copy to them only if they requested it. Captain Gay and Mr. Cannon briefed on the interagency meeting held at Interior October 5, 1972. Specific purpose of the meeting was to establish a working group to prepare and coordinate public information on a continuing basis. Representatives from Interior, DOD, and AEC were identified. Mr. Cannon will act as Chairman. Other topics addressed at the interagency meeting included: 1) Identification of desire for Department of Interior representative from TTPI on the Dose Assessment Review Group. (DBER will initiate formal action in this regard.) 2) Minutes of September 7 meeting, though stamped Confidential, should be Official Use Only -- classification as marked will not be changed. 5) PACE -- The AEG Radiological Survey is specifically exempted from the restraining order. ‘The law firm which filed the injunction request has asked the AEC to assure them that the Radiological Survey will have no environmental impact.
