"In compliance with basic letter, reference: above, CJTF SEVEN and 6th WEARONcomments relative to the three new proposed sites follow:

Site one indicated on Drawing F.S. 6161 was used by a weather reporting team
of the 6th WEARON during GREENHOUSE 1951.
This site proved to be undesirable
in that it is in a congested area which does not have sufficient space for
balloon release. Site one, being immediately adjacent to both the school and
existing residence, attracts an unreasonable number of indigenous people,
which in turn detracts from the efficiency of the camp. Operations continue
for the full 24 hours daily which requires that the area be lighted at night _
and a great degree of noise level is. prevalent from personnel and equipment.
This is objectionable to neighborhood persons desiring to sleep. It will also
create an objectionable noise level during school hours.
Site two is considered too remote from the airstrip and will increase the
expense of logistical support for the vehicles and has no advantage over site
three.
Site three is considered the most suitable for weather requirements. This
site is equally suitable if located anywhere in the red shaded area between
the landing strip and the proposed location site three, as indicated on
attached Drawing F.S. 6161, inclosure 2.
"It is requested that the camp be constructed at site three or within the area
indicated by red shading on attached Drawing F.S. 6161 and that consideration be
given to the requirement for an obstruction-free area of a minimum of 100 yards
to the west and east for balloon release. In this connection, in constructing
the camp it is suggested that the camp site be located: on the northeast corner
of the acquired lot, the operations building be the southern most building of the
complex, and the 12’ x 12' concrete instrument pad be within 150 feet to the south
of the operations building, as shown on inclosure 2.
"It is further requested that access road be developed from airfield to the camp
site for military vehicle and pedestrian use."
