KDA #2 Dr Conor. 2 Dear Dwight: This is just a few lines to let you know that our survey plans seem to be fairly firm for the dates that I recently wrote you. In case I did not previously enclose our proposed schedule, I am doing so now. Mr. Rasmussen and I discussed in some detail with Danny Akimoto the use of the Trust Territory ship in conjunction with the survey, and Danny requested that we furnish a date for use of the ship. He also mentioned that there was a possibility that a smaller vessel would become available for the Marshall Islands medical use. Has this materialized? If so, Danny suggested that this might be the best ship for our use. In regard to the SA-16 flights to Rongelap, we will handle this directly with Saipan. ‘ I know you will be glad to hear that the examinations on the Rongelap woman who had cancer of the thyroid, showed that she had no further extension of the disease. I hope that the request for Trust Territory personnel participation in the survey can be satisfactorily arranged, and I presume by now you have arranged for those people that were requested from your district to participate. I will keep in touch with you and let you know if there are any : changes in our plans. I will appreciate hearing from you at your earliest opportunity in regard to the survey arrangements. With best regards, Cordially, Robert A.
