Nuclear rocket propulsion (Project ROVER). At the Nevada Test Site (NTS) Kiwi A, the
100,000-kilowatt experimental reactor designed to use graphite-based fuel elements, completed two short criticality runs to establish power calibration. No technical difficulties were
encountered and radiation levels outside the reactor were insignificant. Actual power operation is to follow the individual testing of subsystems and the integral testing of the heavy and
light water cooling systems and gas flow systems.
