Dear Dr. Donaldson:
As I indicated to Dr. Held by telephone, the Trust Territory hes approved
the September 1 to 27 ecology study et Rongelap. We have requested that
PMR Point Mugu recommission their YFU at Eniwetok and provide the services
you require,
I have asked that Dr. Hiatt assist you in every way possible to make the
trip successful.
The Trust Territory here (Mr. Nucker) agrees that any
further correspondence should be direct between the University of Washington
and High Commissioner Wilfred Goding. The HiCom says that they want to
send 4 man with you. I suppose you will want to use the Rongelapese motor
boat and possibly some native labor?
Please contact "PMR, Captain Tiesch om Commander Riner, for further arrange-
ments for logistics support of the cruise.
Unless I can be of further assistance I am leaving the remainder of the
operation to you and Ed.
