VERY HIGH ALTITUDE TEST
On February 20, 1957 the Commission approved the recommendation
of AEC 952/h “that an early test not be conducted but that
attention be devoted to implementation of the high altitude test
shots now scheduled for HARDTACK, and that every effort be made
to conduct the high altitude test no later than May 1, 1958,
prior to the other tests in Operation HARDTACK.”
Commission action on AEC 952/4 is interpreted as approving AEC
participation in two very high altitude test shots in Operation
HARDTACK. Based on this interpretation the attached letter to
the Secretary of Defense is submitted for your signature.
